Parents are in a perfect position to encourage their young kids to become active. Active kids’ bodies can perform better and tend to have a positive outlook. Healthy and physically active children are also academically inspired and more focused, increasing their chances of becoming successful.
Help your kids develop a love for fitness with these tips:
Limit Screen Time
According to child health and nutrition experts, children should not exceed two hours of daily media exposure. Whenever they are watching the telly or browsing the Internet, make sure that they take breaks and get around. Motivate them to join sports so they will not use up all their free time in front of the telly or computer.
Give Your Child Fitness-Oriented Gifts
Give your kids fitness-oriented gifts for their next birthday. A mini-trampoline, kick or Madd scooters, a hula-hoop, and a jump rope are great choices to get them moving. Make sure to guide your kids and to give them safety gear when playing.
Schedule Play Dates
Talk to your child about scheduling a play date with some friends. You can incorporate a few other activities to motivate them to be active at home. Play a game of catch, water balloons, hula-hoops, and others. You can also let them participate in gardening and other household activities.
Visit Local Parks
Instead of spending weekends at the mall, go to the park. Children can surely enjoy a local park or a playground when the weather is nice. Visiting parks regularly helps children develop coordination and balance. This also lets them breathe fresh air, which is great for their developing lungs.
Encourage Walking or Biking
If you live near groceries, libraries, and other places you regularly visit, encourage walking or biking to get there. You can also establish a safe route to tour on bike or Madd Scooters or on foot with your children to get to other places.
Be a Model
You will find it easier to motivate kids if you lead an active lifestyle. Make sure that your children see you when you are doing morning stretches or following a fitness program. This will likely inspire them to join you or do the same.
Establish a good habit of physical activities with these tips. Use these ideas to make every day an opportunity to get fit and have fun.
Tencent Holdings intensifies its e-commerce rivalry with Alibaba Group after buying minority stakes in China’s largest online direct sales company JD.com.
Who Are They?
Tencent is China’s largest publicly traded Internet business and is a significant force in the country’s online gaming and wireless texting business. Tencent will acquire 15% of JD.com in exchange for $214 million, as well as a few assets, which include certain logistics and e-commerce sites.
Internet billionaire Ma Huateng leads Tencent, while fellow billionaire Liu Qiangdong leads JD, and shareholders Saudi Prince Billionaire Alwaleed bin Talal’s Kingdom Holdings and Sequoia Capital.
What Do They Gain?
The transfer will add to JD.com’s niche e-commerce market, as well as provide the company access to Tencent’s large number of users. By moving some of their operations to JD.com, Tencent will gain the added benefit of being able to focus on the core of their business without losing the market they’ve already gained.
There’s a saying that people in the roofing industry both like and lament – “It doesn’t leak if it’s not raining, and you can’t fix it when it is raining.” In the opinion of many roofing contractors, this quote perfectly encapsulates the attitude of the American public regarding their roofs.
A Can’t Do Attitude
It’s ironic that the structure above everyone’s heads, the very thing that protects homeowners from the harsh elements, is taken for granted. There’s really nothing wrong with having such a reliable roof that you feel safe even without really thinking why. But, eventually (preferably much, much later) weaknesses will start appearing, and the last thing you want is to be caught unaware.
The problem stems from assumptions that roofs will always be there, since they’ve always been. Everybody knows this isn’t right, but they subconsciously do it anyway; if only roofs didn’t last so long. This attitude obviously needs to change if people still want to continue depending on their roofs for protection because roofing contractors can only do so much.
Check-Ups and Appointments
One of the basic problems in roof care is that people often forget about it because of the structures’ long lifespan. People only remember to do something when a) it’s a recent instruction, or b) the procedure becomes a habit. The second option is the better of the two, because there really isn’t any remembering to do at all; it’s just part of a routine.
The only question is how do you form a habit out of checking on the roof? Easy; you make a big deal out of it. Make a point of doing it every six months, right at the solstices. The annual springcleaning of the house is the perfect opportunity to clear the cobwebs in the attic, and check on how well the roof’s structural integrity withstood the last winter, too. The winter solstice is also ideal because it gives you the opportunity to do last minute checks before the cold weather really sets in.
Have your children help with these chores as well (albeit with tasks done on the ground), in order to instill the habit in them at an early age. Nothing’s more important than preparing the next generation for the problems they’ll have to face. They’re most likely the ones who’ll be inheriting those problems when the roof starts reaching the end of its life cycle anyway.
People throughout the world – regardless of race, culture, or political inclinations – are passionate when it comes to sports. Annually, people funnel billions of dollars into the sporting industry by attending events or buying sports-related products. While its social impacts are immense, the massive appeal of a sporting event also represents an appealing target for those who intend to cause harm.
Establishing an effective security plan for a sporting event is a monumental task. While the security concerns may not be of the same magnitude as in the Olympics, you still can’t ignore the risks. As such, having plans in place can result in a successful event.
Such plans should incorporate the following:
Local police typically take the lead during an event, and they coordinate with other people involved to keep the event safe. Before the event starts, all parties, including security companies and the event planners should clearly define roles and responsibilities as early as possible. They should work towards a common goal and aim for maximum cooperation to make the event a success.
Effective communication is important in keeping the event trouble-free. Event planners must communicate effectively with all stakeholders including athletes, committees, security companies, and even fans. They should also consider establishing lines of communication with other groups including media representatives and third party organisations.
Event organisers should prepare for the worst and hope for the best. New threats are always emerging, so you need a multilayered and comprehensive plan. Crowd disturbances, for one, are the one of the present threats, so you need an effective intelligence operation mixed with a well-defined security structure to mitigate this risk.
While the odds of an event being attacked by a large group of criminals are unlikely, other risks may affect your guests’ safety. Establish a security plan and assess risks both inside and outside the event. Lastly, keep these things in mind and you’re on your way towards having a successful sporting event.
